Our Mission
Summary Statement

Pro-Life of Mercer County is an organization committed to educating all persons on the sanctity of human life, from conception to natural death. It is dedicated to protecting the most fundamental of all values, the right to life. Our organization seeks to promote respect for the dignity of all human life through education and legislative means.

Pro-Life of Mercer County is a non-profit entity incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Pro-Life of Mercer County is exempt from federal and state income taxes under Section 501(c)(4) of the United States Internal Revenue Code and corresponding provisions of the statutory law of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Pro-Life of Mercer County is not established for a charitable purpose and does not solicit funds for charitable purposes. Donations to Pro-Life of Mercer County are not tax exempt for federal or state income tax purposes.

Pro-Life of Mercer County is governed by a Board of Directors. The Directors volunteer their time and serve without compensation. The organization does compensate its Executive Director on terms approved by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is not a member of the Board of Directors.

Brian Beal is currently the Executive Director of the organization. He is not an employee, but rather is an independent contractor. Mr. Beal establishes his own hours and is free to work for other organizations. Mr. Beal schedules his own speaking engagements and directs his own activities, subject to the oversight and guidance of the Board of Directors.

Pro-Life of Mercer County is ecumenical and non-partisan. It does not use its funds to lobby elected officials or to intervene or participate in any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

Pro-Life of Mercer County's activism since 2004

  • Built a mobile display of 4000 crosses to educate the public on the daily loss of human life from abortion in the U.S. - This display is seen by over a million motorists annually
  • Delivered more than 80 educational talks at church services and youth group gatherings
  • Life Truck Procured and operative
  • Had personal meetings or phone meetings with more that 80 pastors from Mercer County
  • Established a communications network that updates more than 1200 Pro-Life supporters on activities and legislation related to the sanctity of human life
  • Welcomed 400 supporters to our annual Prayer Breakfast
  • Enabled 800 supporters to attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C.
  • Sponsored a regular Pro-Life education booth at the Shenango Valley Mall
  • Distributed more than $700 worth of free Pro-Life literature
  • Sponsored Dr. Alveda King as well as Molly Kelly & Mark Houck to gives talks related to chastity education.
  • Delivered four radio addresses on Pro-Life issues
  • Sponsored billboards to help post-abortion women receive the help they need in recovering from the psychological trauma of having an abortion
  • Annually published a full-page ad in the Sharon Herald on Mother’s Day
  • Conducted a “Pro-Life Prayer March” at the Youngstown abortion facility
